Join us on Santa Monica’s iconic 3rd Street Promenade for a sun-soaked celebration of health, harmony, and good vibrations. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt, snacks, and refreshments. Following the race, you're welcome to join the festival and enjoy partner swag and the post-race concert.

VOLUNTEER WAIVER & RELEASE OF LIABILITY

EVENT: Beach Boys 5K
DATE: May 16, 2026
In accepting this form, I understand and agree to follow the policies and procedures presented to
me. I further understand and agree that 1) volunteer activities may include physical activities
related to course setup, course teardown, course marshaling, 2) I am not an employee of Mascot
Sports, and no wages, benefits, or insurance are provided, and 3) I am physically and mentally
able to participate in the requested or assigned volunteer activities.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK

I, by accepting this waiver, hereby acknowledge that I have voluntarily applied to be a One Time
Volunteer for Mascot Sports. I am aware that volunteering for Mascot Sports can be a potentially
hazardous activity. I acknowledge that these potential hazards have been explained and discussed
with me, including, but not limited to, the following risks:
 Traffic and Participant Collisions: Risk of being struck by vehicles, runners, or other
volunteers, or from collisions with other participants.
 Environmental and Terrain Hazards: Risk of injury from uneven surfaces, road
conditions, obstacles, or exposure to extreme weather conditions.
 Crowd and Public Interaction: Risk of injury from crowd surges, stampedes, or physical
contact with spectators, participants, or other volunteers.
 Noise Exposure: Risk of hearing damage or loss due to prolonged exposure to loud music
and amplified sounds during the event and electronic music performances.
 Exposure to Infectious Diseases: Risk of exposure to COVID-19 or other communicable
diseases due to close contact with others before, during, and after the event.
 Medical and Physical Conditions: Risk of injury due to pre-existing medical conditions,
physical exertion, or emotional stress.
 Event Equipment and Technical Hazards: Risk of injury from equipment malfunctions,
technical failures, or the use of heavy equipment.
 Alcohol and Drug Exposure: Risk of encountering intoxicated individuals and potential
risks related to their behavior.
I further acknowledge that these risks may include those arising from the negligence or
carelessness of Mascot Sports, its partners, employees, agents, participants, or other volunteers,
or from conditions of the event site, equipment, or weather.
I hereby waive, release and discharge any and all claims of damages for death, personal injury or
property damage, which I may have, or which may hereafter accrue to me, as a result of my
participation as a volunteer for Mascot Sports, except in cases of gross negligence or willful
misconduct.
This Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk is intended to discharge in advance Mascot

Sports, its partners, employees, respective agents, directors, sponsors, any and all volunteers,
their representative successor and assigns from and against any and all liability arising out of or
connected in any way with my participation as a volunteer for Mascot Sports, even though that
liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities above
mentioned.
I agree to follow all safety rules, staff instructions, and applicable laws.
I further understand that serious accidents occasionally occur and One Time Volunteers
occasionally sustain serious injuries as a consequence thereof.  Knowing the risks of
participating as a volunteer for Mascot Sports, I nevertheless hereby agree to assume those risks
and to release and hold harmless all of the persons and entities mentioned above who (through
negligence or carelessness or otherwise) might be liable to me, or my heirs or assigns for
damages.  It is further understood and agrees this waiver, Release of Liability and Assumption of
Risk is to be binding on my heirs and assigns.
