Description:
The 42nd annual Spirit Run is in a new location, on a new date, with a new distance! The Newport Spirit Run will be held at the Newport Dunes Resort and the Upper Back Bay. The weekend of events requires enthusiastic, hard-working volunteers to make it happen. Volunteers provide key support to the participants. The race is presented by Newport Mesa Spirit Run, Inc. (NMSRI), a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation. 100% of our net proceeds support youth causes in Newport and Costa Mesa. Times vary depending on the position.

Volunteer Waiver & Release of Liability
I understand that volunteering at the Spirit Run / Newport Spirit Run and participating in event-related activities, including setup, operations, course support, aid stations, finish line activities, expo activities, and breakdown, is a potentially hazardous activity that could result in injury, illness, property damage, or death.
By signing this waiver, I certify that I am physically able to participate as a volunteer and that I will follow all instructions provided by event staff, officials, public safety personnel, and venue representatives. I agree to comply with all event policies, safety procedures, and directions from event officials.
I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with volunteering at this event, including but not limited to: falls; contact with participants, spectators, volunteers, contractors, employees, vendors, vehicles, bicycles, and animals; exposure to communicable diseases; weather conditions including heat, humidity, cold, wind, or rain; traffic; road, trail, sidewalk, beach, or terrain conditions; lifting and carrying equipment; and any other risks associated with outdoor event activities.
I acknowledge the contagious nature of communicable diseases and voluntarily assume the risk that I may be exposed to or infected by communicable diseases while volunteering at this event. I understand that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and/or death.
I agree to abide by all applicable federal, state, local, venue, and event health and safety guidelines, including any recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In consideration of being allowed to volunteer at this event, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, hereby waive, release, and discharge the Spirit Run / Newport Spirit Run and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, contractors, agents, sponsors, and representatives, including but not limited to the City of Newport Beach, City of Irvine, Orange County Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Book That Event, Irvine Timing Company, Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Road Runners Club of America, and all event sponsors and affiliated organizations, from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation as a volunteer, including claims arising from the negligence of the released parties to the fullest extent permitted by law.
I grant permission to the foregoing parties to use my name, image, photograph, video, motion picture, voice recording, or likeness from the event for legitimate promotional, advertising, marketing, or other lawful purposes without compensation.
I understand that volunteer positions may be modified or canceled due to weather, safety concerns, emergencies, public health concerns, or other circumstances beyond the control of the event organizers.
I certify that I have read this waiver, fully understand its contents, and sign it voluntarily.
