Volunteers will assist with setting directional barricades at parking lots. They will direct participants to the appropriate parking areas and assist with traffic flow. This is the introduction participants have to the event, so a friendly and smooth process makes for a great first impression! Must be over the age of 15. Under 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

The ShareForCures unicorn (dressed in a unicorn costume) serves as a walking conversation starter, drawing attention and creating memorable, lighthearted moments for event participants.
Volunteers serving as the SFC unicorn should be open, approachable and encouraging when speaking to participants about this activation as it relates to Komen and breast cancer.
Volunteers in these roles must be 18 or older.
Volunteers must speak with the Development Engagmenet Manger prior to being approved for role.

B12 Vendor Support (involves carrying things)

Volunteers will help to support and manage the vendor check-in process, serve vendor needs throughout the event, distribute vendor appreciation items, collect banners for vendor pick up post event, and helping maintain a clean area by collecting and emptying trashcans.

Volunteers will assist with the set-up and tear-down of the reflective We Remember Tent. They’ll manage the area activation and encourage participants to enter and participate in honoring the memory of a loved one by writing a note or placing a photo on ribbons hung in the tents. Volunteers in this tent must be 21 or older and open and encouraging in speaking to participants about this area as it relates to Komen and breast cancer.

Volunteers will assist with the set-up, activation and tear-down of the Registration and Check-In area where participants can register for the event, turn in donations, make self-donations and pick up participant materials. Volunteers participating as cashiers must be at least 18 years old and are required to submit a background check to qualify for this role. Volunteers should be able to operate with a high degree of confidence and assert a level of respectful authority to facilitate a smooth flow, dealing with bottlenecks and backups.

Volunteers will assist with the set-up, activation, cleaniness, and tear-down of Hope Village – a designated area for survivors and those living with Metastatic Breast Cancer. Hope Village will have a decorative and celebratory atmosphere and serves as the gathering place for those participating in the Pathway of Hope entrance to the Opening Ceremony. Volunteers will manage the area activation and welcome and serve survivors within the area. Survivors can be recognized as those wearing pink event shirts. MBC thrivers can be recognized by those wearing teal shirts.

Volunteers will assist with the set-up, activation, cleaniness, and tear-down of the Top Teams / Top Fundraiser Area – a designated area to honor:
Teams/Captains* for teams that have raised $2,500+. This area’s guests are incredibly valuable to Komen and volunteers should treat them with the highest level of customer service and gratitude.
Top Fundraisers - individuals who have raised $1,000 or Teams/Captains* for teams that have raised ($2,500+). This area’s guest are incredibly valuable to Komen and volunteers should treat them with the highest level of customer service and gratitude.
The area is celebratory atmosphere with ample opportunity to THANK those that are funding Komen’s mission. Volunteers will manage the area activation and welcome and serve VIPs within the area, while making sure the area is reserved for team members.

The Mission Area volunteers assist with set-up, activation & tear-down of the mission area. They will encourage participants to sign up to volunteer with Komen or organize a Go Pink for the Cure event in their communities, share information about metastatic breast cancer and Komen's Patient Care Center, and invite people to take action by becoming a Komen Advocacy Insider. Volunteers will further assist by taking pictures of participants at the area’s selfie station. Volunteers must be open & encouraging in speaking to participants about Komen’s mission.

C02 Volunteer Photographers

Photographers are needed to help capture the celebration and emotion of the event. Photographers will receive shot assignments the week of the event and will be asked to download all photos taken onto a Komen hard drive before leaving the event, if possible. By signing up as a volunteer photographer, photographers acknowledge that Susan G. Komen has an unlimited irrevocable license to use, edit, and publish all photographs for any purpose and on any medium. Photographers also acknowledge that Susan G. Komen may grant a limited license for its partners to use the photographs solely to promote the partnership and attendance at the event. Photographers must have their own camera - no smart phones please.
