Description:
Named after the Navesink Twin Lights up the hill from Huddy Park in Highlands, NJ, this ride has been a favorite of local cyclists, New Yorkers, and visitors from around the country for more than two decades. Five routes ranging from 15 to 100 miles take you along the Jersey shore, over undulating hills, and past quaint farms to our finish festival where local restaurants come out to serve up their best to hungry riders. It's the greatest way to wind down your summer riding season!

2026 TWIN LIGHTS RIDE
RELEASE FROM LIABILITY AND WAIVER OF RIGHTS
In consideration of acceptance of my application for participation as a volunteer in the Twin Lights Ride (together with all events, riding, programs, transportation, preparation, and follow-up activities before, during, after, and in connection therewith, the "TLR") on Sunday, September 27, 2026, I, the undersigned, agree to the following:
Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risks Involved in Participation.  I acknowledge that the TLR contains risks, including but not limited to the risks of falling, collision with other bicyclists, bicycles, motor vehicles, pedestrians, or stationary or moving objects, surface hazards, including but not limited to potholes and gratings, the conditions of the road, equipment failure, inadequate or misused safety equipment, the use of equipment provided by the Bike New York or others, weather conditions, my own negligence, and the negligence of others. My participation is voluntary and done at my own risk. I voluntarily assume all risks of loss, damage, death, or injury that may be sustained while participating in the TLR or directly related to, or incidental to, the TLR and any activity associated therewith. I attest that I am sufficiently trained for participation and completion of the TLR and in excellent health with no mental, physical, or medical conditions which would impair, prevent, or prohibit me from safely participating in the TLR.
I recognize that an event of this nature can be physically demanding. I acknowledge Bike New York's recommendation that I consult with a physician regarding the advisability of my participation in this activity. I agree to not be under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or drugs, including prescription drugs, which would in any way impair my ability to safely participate in the TLR. I understand and acknowledge that serious accidents occasionally occur during the TLR and that participants in this event may sustain mortal or serious injury as a consequence thereof. I acknowledge that situations may arise during the TLR which may be beyond the immediate control of the TLR organizers. Nevertheless, I agree to assume these risks.
Equipment and Helmets.  Unless Bike New York otherwise provides, I am responsible for providing a bicycle for use in the TLR and for ensuring that such bicycle is in a good mechanical condition. I agree to examine such bicycle and determine that it is suitable for use by me or by another participant before use, taking into account the height, weight, and fitness of the user. I attest that such equipment is in good mechanical condition. I understand that bicycle helmets may (but do not always) prevent serious injury, and I agree to wear a properly-fitted helmet while participating in the TLR.
Infectious Diseases.  I acknowledge that participation in the TLR includes possible exposure to, and illness from, infectious and/or communicable diseases, including but not limited to MRSA, influenza, Ebola, and coronavirus ("Infectious Diseases"). I am responsible for making decisions about the best prevention and treatment for myself with respect to preventing and treating Infectious Diseases, but I agree to take steps that are at least as rigorous as those required or recommended by all applicable local, state, and federal governmental authorities, and as otherwise required by Bike New York. The circumstances regarding Infectious Diseases change frequently, and it is my responsibility (not that of Bike New York or any other person) to inform myself of the latest news, risk, and local, state, and federal guidelines (including those promulgated by the State of New Jersey and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Release and Waiver.  I hereby unconditionally RELEASE, WAIVE, and AGREE NOT TO SUE Bike New York, the Highlands Business Partnership, the Borough of Highlands, the Monmouth County Parks System, Allaire State Park, the Township of Middletown, the Oceanport Borough, and all other sponsoring or participating entities, and all other governmental agencies, businesses, and organizations, and its respective subsidiaries, affiliates, parent companies, and all past, present, and future directors, trustees, officers, employees, agents, volunteers, contractors, and representatives of the foregoing (collectively, "Releasees", and each individually, "Releasee"), from all liability and all claims of any kind — including but not limited to for damages, death, personal injury, or loss of property — resulting from, arising out of, or connected in any way, in whole or in part, with my participation in the TLR, WHETHER CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERS, to the maximum extent permitted by law. In addition, I waive my insurers' right to make a claim against Releasees based on payments by insurers to me or on my behalf for any reason. I acknowledge this means my insurers have no rights of subrogation against the Releasees. I will not initiate, participate in, or assist anyone in connection with, any claim, lawsuit, court action or other legal proceeding or demand, whether currently known or unknown, whether anticipated or unanticipated, against Releasees in connection with the TLR, and I waive any right I may have to do so.
Indemnification.  Without limiting the effectiveness in any way of the release, waiver, and covenant not to sue provided in this document, I will, to the maximum extent permitted by law, indemnify, hold harmless, and reimburse Releasees from and for all damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) incurred or paid by Releasees to any person (including me or my insurers) in respect of any accident, injury (including death), loss, or property damage, however caused, resulting from, arising out of, or otherwise in connection with my participation in the TLR.
Medical Treatment and Records.  I understand and agree that medical or other services rendered to me by or at the insistence or recommendation of Bike New York or any of the Releasees is not an admission of liability or obligation to provide such services or an agreement to provide or to continue any such services and is not a waiver by any Releasee of any right hereunder. I consent to emergency medical treatment and transportation as medical professionals may deem appropriate in the event I suffer an injury arising out of my participation in the TLR. This document extends to any liability arising out of or in any way connected with the medical treatment or transportation provided in the event of such injury. I further acknowledge that if I am injured, I am responsible for my own medical expenses.
The Rules of the TLR.  I agree to comply with the rules of the TLR as established by Bike New York (including, without limitation, that I will ride in the street, ride with traffic and in a straight line, obey traffic laws, signal as required, wear a helmet, and refrain from wearing headphones) and to obey the directions of the officials. I agree to wear the Bike New York vest, bib, and/or bike plate to identify myself as a volunteer. Bike New York reserves the right to reject any entry and to disqualify, bar, or remove any individual from the TLR. Reasons for this action may include but are not limited to: violation of the rules of the TLR, unsafe conduct, abusive behavior, non-payment of TLR fees, participating without an official volunteer vest, bib, and/or bike plate, participating with an official volunteer vest, bib, and/or bike plate assigned to another person, transferring or attempting to transfer an official volunteer vest, bib, and/or bike plate to, or to obtain such items from, another person, and providing false information on the TLR entry form(s) or to the TLR at any time including during the registration process. Individuals disqualified from the TLR may be barred from future TLRs and other Bike New York events.
Changes and Cancellations.  I hereby agree that changes in the weather, in government approvals, recommendations, or directives, or in other conditions involving the TLR may cause Bike New York to cancel, suspend, postpone, or terminate the TLR, and acknowledge that Bike New York will have no liability to me in the event of any cancellation, suspension, postponement, or termination of the TLR.
Intellectual Property Rights.  I hereby irrevocably grant full permission to Bike New York, its partners, sponsors, service providers, its and their affiliates and subsidiaries, and all of their photographers, videographers, licensees, representatives, agents, and service providers (collectively, "Authorized Users") to take and use photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, sound recordings, or any other recording of this TLR that include me and my name, likeness, and/or voice, for legal promotional activity and any other legitimate purpose, in each case without compensation to me, and I further irrevocably grant the Authorized Users full permission to perpetually use, edit, reproduce, transmit, distribute, publish, display, and/or perform, in whole or in part and without the need for paying a royalty or other compensation, any of those photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, and sound or any other recordings of the TLR that include my name, likeness, voice, statements, and general biographical information (e.g., residence city and state or province) (collectively, "Authorized Materials"), singularly or in conjunction with other photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, sound recordings, and other recordings, for advertising, publicity, commercial, or any other business purposes without limitation as to time, territory, or medium. I hereby waive all rights to review or approve the use of the Authorized Materials, and I hereby release Bike New York and the other Authorized Users from any and all claims and demands arising out of their use of the Authorized Materials, including claims for defamation, violation of rights of privacy or publicity, intrusion, false light, public disclosure of private facts, physical or emotional injury or distress, and any similar claim or cause of action, in tort, contract, or otherwise, now or hereafter known in any jurisdiction throughout the world. I represent and warrant that the rights granted to and use of the Authorized Materials as contemplated hereunder do not, and will not, violate any right of, or conflict with or breach any contract with, any person or entity. Further, I hereby consent to Bike New York sharing my first name, last name, gender, email address, and country of origin with all applicable Bike New York service providers. 
Miscellaneous.  Should any portion of this document be judicially determined invalid, voidable, or unenforceable for any reason, such portion shall be severable from the remaining portions, and the invalidity, voidness, or unenforceability thereof shall not affect the validity, effect, enforceability, or interpretation of the remaining provisions. Headings in this document shall not limit the meaning of any provision. The parties acknowledge that the provisions of this document are the language the parties chose to express their mutual intent and hereby waive any remedy and the applicability of any law that would require interpretation of any claimed ambiguity, omission, or conflict in this document against the party that drafted it.
Consent; Scope of Document.  I consent to this document and agree that its terms shall likewise bind me, my heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, and assignees. I understand that this is an important legal document in which I give up legal rights and remedies I would otherwise have and that this document applies to all activities at the TLR, regardless of whether specifically listed above or not. I hereby state that I am authorized to make this decision and I have read and understand this document. 
CONSENT; RELEASE OF PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN.
To the extent applicable, I represent that I am the parent or legal guardian of the child who will participate in the TLR. I, on behalf of myself and my Child, consent to this document and agree that its terms shall likewise bind my child, me, any other parent or legal guardian of my child, and our and their heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, and assignees (and that, for the avoidance of doubt, any reference to "I" or "me" in this document shall be construed to mean my Child in addition to myself to the extent applicable). I understand that this is an important legal document in which I give up legal rights and remedies my child or I would otherwise have and this document applies to all activities involving the TLR. I hereby state that I am authorized to make this decision on behalf of my Child and any other parent or legal guardian of my Child. I, on behalf of my Child, hereby represent that I, on behalf of my Child, have read and understand this document carefully, completely understand its terms and conditions, acknowledge that I, on behalf of my Child, intend for my signature to serve as confirmation of my and my Child’s complete and unconditional acceptance of these terms, conditions and provisions. I represent that I am at least eighteen (18) years of age or older.
